Hey, Bryan,
I really like the way that “Retrospect” turned out. I’ve been fascinated by the little details all along, and the rationale behind each decision made in the process of the painting. Everyone sees a bit of what they bring into the painting, too, I’m sure. I’m not sure why, but some of my favorite parts in this painting are the veins in Athena’s arms, and the strong muscularity of the right arm.
On to the new painting, I think you should be extremely proud of the foot - such a difficult part of the body to draw or paint, at least in my limited experience.
Hope to talk to you soon.
I just want you to know that, though I have no understanding of the technical aspects of visual art, I find your work beautiful and would one day like to purchase some. Doing so would be speculation in the moral character of the American people, as I could sell it for more in a selfish society, but regardless owning some would be a a credit to my life and a celebration of my happiness.
Wow, I just looked through your gallery. I get an enormously satisfying feeling when watching your art. This is what is meant by “how things ought to be and can be”. I want to go out and conquer the world after watching your art. Is it possible to buy paintings from you? Email me and tell me please, I would love to have your paintings hanging on my wall so that I can wake up with this feeling every morning.
Bryan I am a fan of your work I have been trying to learn academic drawing and painting for some time.. I saw a picture of your pallete it reminded me of the one used by Frank Reilly and his students and their students I would love to talk with you about this Can I call You . My number is cell 919 327 3808 . I tried contacting you before but we missed each other thanks Nick
Nick,
I was introduced to this palette layout during a figure painting seminar taught by Douglas Flynt. As far as I know, he has studied with Anthony Ryder, Jacob Collins, Graydon Parrish and others. I’m not sure about Frank Reilly. I’d love to talk about it sometime. Next time I have some uninterrupted time, I’ll try giving you a call.
Cheers!
Bryan
